Setting up payouts
Before you can charge for tickets, Jambo needs to know who to pay. Setting up payouts takes a few minutes in the Jambo Dash, and it's handled securely through our payments partner, Stripe.
You can create free events without payouts. To set a price on a ticket type, your payouts need to be set up first. Until then, the ticket editor shows You must setup Payouts to charge for tickets. under the price.
Who can manage payouts
Only Owners of your organization can set up and manage payouts. Members don't see the Payouts page in the Dash.
If you need to manage payouts and you're a Member, ask an Owner of your organization to change your role on the Team page.
Setting up payouts
- Sign into the Jambo Dash and click Payouts in the sidebar
- Click Setup Payouts
- Fill out the Account Information form (see below)
- Click Save Changes
By setting up payouts, you agree to the Jambo Terms of Service.
Account information
The Account Information form has three tabs.
Basic Info
Choose your Account Type:
- Business / Company: for registered businesses, LLCs, corporations, etc. Enter the legal name of your business as the Business Name.
- Individual: for sole proprietors, freelancers, or individuals. Enter your First Name and Last Name.
Address
Your street address, city, state, and ZIP code.
Tax Info
- Businesses enter an Employer Identification Number (EIN). If you use your Social Security Number for business tax purposes, enter that instead.
- Individuals enter a Social Security Number (SSN).
We're required to collect this information to verify your identity and meet U.S. tax reporting rules. Once you've submitted a tax ID, this tab shows its status: Pending Verification while it's being checked, then Verified.
Fill out every tab, even though only your name is required to save. Missing information can hold up your account from being verified, and you can't sell paid tickets until it is.
You can come back and change this information at any time by clicking Edit Account Info at the top of the Payouts page.
Linking a bank account
Your bank account is where your earnings are sent. You can start selling before you link one, but you need it before your first payout.
- On the Payouts page, click Add Bank Account
- Follow the steps in the secure window to connect your U.S. bank account
Once it's linked, the Linked Bank Account panel shows your bank name and the last 4 digits of your account. To switch to a different account, click the pencil icon next to it.
Ready to sell
The getting-started checklist in the Dash shows Ready to sell next to Set up payouts once your account has been verified. From then on, you can put a price on your ticket types.
If the checklist still says Not finished, open the Payouts page and look for an alert at the top.
Payout alerts
The Payouts page shows a yellow alert when something needs your attention.
- We need more information from you before we can enable payouts. Click Edit Account Info and fill in anything that's missing, especially your address and tax ID on the Tax Info tab.
- Link a bank account in order to receive payouts. Click Add Bank Account to connect the account you want to be paid to.
Payouts paused for tax information
Once your total earnings on Jambo pass the IRS reporting thresholds, we're required to collect tax information for Form 1099. If we don't have it yet, your payouts are paused and every Owner of your organization gets an email titled Submit tax info to resume your payouts.
To resume payouts, go to Payouts, click Edit Account Info, and enter your tax ID on the Tax Info tab. Payouts resume automatically once your information is verified.
Payee Code
Every organization with payouts set up gets a 5-character Payee Code on the Payouts page.
Share this code with another organization when they want to split ticket revenue with you, for example when you're the artist or co-host for their event. They'll enter it when they add you as a pay split on their ticket type.
The code shows as — with the message You must finish onboarding before taking pay splits until your account has been verified.
