How payouts work
Here's what happens to the money from your ticket sales, from the moment someone buys a ticket to the moment it lands in your bank account.
Proceeds from ticket sales go to the organization that owns the event. Make sure you've set up payouts first (see the Setting up payouts guide).
When you get paid
Your earnings for each event are paid out in one lump sum after the event is over.
- Before and during the event, each sale's earnings are held in your event's account. Holding the money means it's there to cover any refunds you give.
- After the event ends, you have 3 days to finish any refunds.
- Once those 3 days are up, Jambo finalizes the event and sends your remaining earnings to your linked bank account. Finalization runs once a day, so expect your payout to start 3 to 4 days after your event ends.
After that, your bank's normal processing time applies.
Once an event is finalized, you can no longer refund its tickets or make changes to the event. Make sure all refunds are done within 3 days of the event ending.
You can see where each event stands on its Overview tab under Account Status:
- Pre-Event: the event hasn't ended yet. Funds are held until 3 days after it ends.
- Post-Event: the event is over and funds are being processed. You can still issue refunds.
- Finalized: your earnings and any pay splits have been paid out, and the event can no longer be edited.
The Available now box on the same tab shows how much is currently held for the event: Your earnings and Pay splits (held). This is the money available to cover refunds, and it's what gets released to bank accounts when the event finalizes.
Payout history
To see every payout your organization has received, go to Payouts in the Dash and scroll to Payout History.
Each payout shows the Date, Amount, and the Event it was for, along with its Status:
- Pending: the payout has been sent and is on its way to your bank.
- Paid: the payout has arrived.
- Failed: the payout couldn't be completed. This usually means something is wrong with your linked bank account or account information. Check the alerts on the Payouts page, then contact us at [email protected].
Only Owners of your organization can see the Payouts page.
What comes out of your earnings
The event's Overview tab breaks down where the money goes under Financial Breakdown.
Promoter commissions
If a ticket type has a Promoter Offer and the sale came through a Promoter's link, the offer amount comes out of that ticket's price. Promoters are paid at the time of purchase, so this money never sits in your event balance.
If the sale didn't come through a Promoter, you keep the full amount. For more on Promoters, see the Jambo Promoter guide.
Pay splits
Pay splits let you automatically share ticket revenue with other organizations, like an artist, vendor, or co-host. You set them up on each ticket type under Pay Splits by entering the other organization's Payee Code.
- Fixed amounts are paid first, then percentages are taken from whatever's left.
- Anything not split goes to your organization.
- Pay-split money is held with your earnings until the event finalizes, then paid out to each partner's own bank account at the same time as yours.
The organization you're splitting with needs to have finished setting up payouts before you can add them.
Refunds
When you refund a ticket, the customer gets back the ticket price and the sales tax they paid. The service fee isn't refunded.
The refund comes out of the event's held balance:
- Any pay-split amounts for that ticket are taken back from your partners.
- Promoter commissions aren't taken back from the Promoter, so that part of the refund comes out of your earnings.
If your event's balance isn't enough to cover a refund, the refund window shows the Shortfall and asks you to pay the difference, plus a Processing Fee, before the refund goes through.
Service fees and sales tax
Jambo's service fee and sales tax are added on top of your ticket price at checkout and paid by the buyer. They don't come out of your earnings.
Membership earnings
If you offer memberships, each member's monthly payment is handled separately from your events.
- When it's sent: every time a member's monthly payment goes through, your share is sent to your organization's payout account right away. There's no 3-day hold, because memberships aren't tied to an event.
- How much: the full monthly price you set. Jambo's service fee and sales tax are added on top for the member, so they don't come out of your share.
- Not part of event payouts: membership earnings don't appear in any event's Financial Breakdown or in your Payout History.
The Dash doesn't show membership earnings yet, and monthly membership payments can't be refunded. Contact us at [email protected] if you have questions about your membership earnings. For more on memberships, see the Offering memberships guide.
