Jambo TV
Jambo TV turns any screen in your venue into a rotating display of your upcoming events and your own promo images.
Every event slide shows the event's image, name, host and venue, date and time, a short description, and a QR code. Guests can scan the code with their phone to open the event on Jambo and get tickets.
All you need is a TV or monitor with a web browser, like a smart TV, a streaming stick, or a small computer plugged into the screen. There's no extra hardware to buy.
How it works
You create a TV configuration in the Jambo Dash that decides what the screens show. Then you pair your screens to it with a short code.
Any changes you make to the configuration show up on every paired screen within about a minute. You don't need to touch the TVs again.
Anyone in your organization can create and manage TV configurations.
Creating a TV configuration
- In the Jambo Dash, click TV in the sidebar
- Click New
- Optionally, give it a Name (optional), like "Main Bar TV" or "Patio Display", so you can tell your configurations apart
- Under Hosts & Venues, choose which of your hosts and venues to show upcoming events for
- Under Images, click an empty slot to add any promo images you want to show (see below)
- Click Create
You need to choose at least one host or add at least one image before you can create it.
Which events are shown
The screen automatically shows upcoming events for the hosts and venues you picked, in order of when they start. For each host or venue, that includes:
- Events it's hosting
- Events taking place at it, even if another host is putting them on
Only published, public events are shown. Drafts and private events never appear. Events drop off the screen on their own once they're over, and new ones are added as soon as you publish them.
If there are no upcoming events and no images, the screen shows Stay Tuned! and No upcoming events at the moment.
Promo images
Images are a great way to advertise drink specials, sponsors, upcoming announcements, or anything else you want guests to see.
Images are mixed in with your events: one image is shown after every 2 events. If you have more images than that, the extras are shown after the last event.
Images are shown in full, at any shape. If an image doesn't fill the whole screen, the empty space is filled with a blurred version of the image. Landscape images fill a TV best.
To remove or change an image, use the controls on that image. Then click Save.
Live preview
The Live Preview panel next to the form shows exactly what your screens will look like, and it updates as you make changes.
Use Previous and Next to step through the slides, or click Open in new tab to see it full size.
Pairing a screen
Once you've created a configuration, pair your screens to it.
- On the TV page in the Dash, find your configuration and click Generate Pairing Code
- On the TV, open a web browser and go to tv.jambo.app
- Enter the 4-digit code shown in the Dash
The screen will start showing your events right away. Make the browser full screen for the best look.
Each slide is shown for 10 seconds before moving on to the next. After the last slide, it starts over from the beginning.
A pairing code works for 1 hour. The Dash shows how many minutes are left. Once it expires, click Generate Pairing Code again to get a new one. Screens you've already paired keep working after the code expires.
Multiple screens
You can pair as many screens as you like to the same configuration. Just enter the same code on each screen while it's still valid.
If you want different screens to show different things, for example one per venue or one just for a patio, create a separate configuration for each and pair each screen to the right one.
Getting back to a screen
Each TV remembers the configurations it has shown. If the screen gets closed, go back to tv.jambo.app on the same TV and pick your configuration under Recently Viewed. No new code needed.
Editing or deleting a configuration
To change what your screens show, click the pencil icon on the configuration on the TV page, make your changes, and click Save. Paired screens pick up the changes on their own within about a minute.
To stop using a configuration, click the trash icon and confirm. Screens that were paired to it will stop showing it.
