Memberships and ticket types
If you sell tickets on Jambo, you can let members of your memberships claim a free ticket to your events. You choose exactly which ticket types each membership covers, one ticket type at a time.
To create a membership first, see the Offering memberships guide.
Letting members claim a ticket type
- Open your event in the Jambo Dash and go to the Ticketing tab
- Create a new ticket type, or open the one you want to change
- Expand the Memberships section
- Under Redeemable by members of, pick the memberships that can claim this ticket type
- Save the ticket type
To stop members from claiming it, clear Redeemable by members of. Only active memberships are listed, so archived memberships can't be added.
Members can claim tickets from any of your organization's events, at any host. The hosts a membership is shown on only control where people can join it and where they can be checked in at the door.
What members see
On the event's page in the Jambo app or on the web, members see a Use my membership button for the ticket types their membership covers. The ticket goes straight to their account, just like a purchased one.
Everyone else still sees the ticket type and can buy it at its normal price.
How claims work
- One per ticket type. Each membership can claim one free ticket of each ticket type it covers. If a member wants more, they can buy them like anyone else. Covering both General Admission and VIP lets a member claim one of each.
- Only while it's on sale. Members can claim a ticket type only when people could otherwise get it: the event is published, the ticket type is Open, it's inside its availability window, and it isn't sold out. Hidden and Closed ticket types can't be claimed.
- Claims count toward inventory. Each claimed ticket counts toward the ticket type's Total Availability, just like a purchased one. If you want to keep some tickets for paying customers, create a separate ticket type for members and set its own total.
- Only active memberships. A member whose payment is past due, or whose membership has ended, can't claim.
- Doesn't use free scans. Claiming a ticket doesn't count against the member's free scans at the door.
At the door
A claimed ticket is a regular ticket for that event. Your scanners scan it like any other ticket, and it shows up in your Attendees tab with your other tickets. See the Scanning tickets guide.
Members who come to an event without claiming a ticket can still be checked in with their membership code, as long as the membership is shown on the event's host or venue and the member has free scans left. See the Offering memberships guide.
