Pay splits
Pay splits automatically share ticket revenue with other organizations on Jambo, like a co-host, an artist, or the venue. Every time a ticket sells, each organization's share is sent straight to them, so you don't have to settle up after the event.
Pay splits are set for each ticket type, so you can split VIP sales differently from General Admission.
Before you start: payee codes
You add an organization to a split using its Payee Code, a 5-character code unique to each organization.
To receive pay splits, an organization needs to finish setting up payouts. Its payee code is shown on its Payouts page in the Jambo Dash, labeled Payee Code. Until payouts are set up, the code shows as —.
If you're the one being paid, share your payee code with the organization running the event.
Adding a pay split
- Open your event's Ticketing tab
- Create a ticket type, or choose Edit from a ticket type's actions menu
- Make sure the ticket type has a price. Pay splits are only available on paid tickets.
- In the Pay Splits section, click Add a split
- In the Payee field, type the other organization's payee code. Press Enter or click away to look it up, and the organization's name appears.
- Choose the Type:
- %: a percentage of the ticket price
- $: a fixed dollar amount per ticket
- Enter the Amount
- To add another organization, click the + button. You can add up to 8 splits per ticket type.
- Click Create or Save
Check the Money flow summary at the bottom of the editor to see exactly how much each organization receives and what you net. See the Fees and pricing guide.
Percentage or fixed amount?
- Use a percentage when you've agreed to share a portion of sales, like "the artist gets 30% of the door". If you change the ticket price later, their share changes with it.
- Use a fixed amount when you've agreed on a flat amount per ticket, like "the venue gets $2 per ticket". It stays the same if you change the price.
Percentages are calculated on the full ticket price. For example, on a $20 ticket with a $5 fixed split and a 25% split, the fixed split gets $5 and the percentage split gets $5 (25% of $20). You keep the remaining $10.
Anything that isn't split goes to your organization.
How splits work with fees and promoters
- Service fee: the service fee is paid by the buyer on top of the ticket price, so it doesn't reduce anyone's split.
- Sales tax: tax is collected separately and isn't part of anyone's split.
- Promoter offers: promoter commission comes out of your share only, after pay splits. Splits are never reduced to pay a promoter. Your promoter offer can't be more than what's left for you after splits. See the Promoter offers guide.
- Refunds: when you refund a ticket, each organization's split for that ticket is taken back from them. See the Managing attendees and refunds guide.
- Free tickets: complimentary tickets, bonus tickets, and free ticket types don't pay out any splits.
Common messages
- Payee Not Found: no organization matches that code, or the organization hasn't finished setting up payouts yet.
- Invalid Payee with You can't split revenue with yourself.: you entered your own organization's payee code.
- Duplicate Payee: that organization is already in another split on this ticket type. Combine them into one split instead.
- Splits exceed the ticket price by $X.: the splits add up to more than the ticket price. Lower the amounts or raise the price.
Changing or removing a split
Edit the ticket type, then change the amounts, or click the trash icon next to a split to remove it. Click Save.
Changes apply to tickets sold after you save. Tickets that were already sold keep the split that applied when they were bought.
Splits are copied when you duplicate a ticket type or a whole event, so check them on the copy if the new event has a different lineup or venue.
