Getting started checklist
When you're new to the Jambo Dash, the getting-started checklist walks your organization from an empty account to events that are live and selling tickets.
You can stop at any time. The checklist picks back up where you left off, and every step checks itself off based on what you've actually done. There's nothing to mark complete by hand.
Finding the checklist
- Right after you create your account, the checklist is the first thing you see.
- Afterwards, click Get started at the top of the left sidebar. The badge next to it shows how many steps you've finished, like 2/4.
Only the step you're on is expanded, with a short explanation and a button to finish it. Finished steps show a check mark, and the right side of each row shows its current state, like 3 added or Ready to sell.
The steps
1. Create your organization
Your organization holds your team, your events, and your payouts. Enter an Organization name and click Create. Customers never see this name. It's only used to identify your team in the Dash.
Done when: your organization exists.
For more, see the Creating an organization guide.
2. Add your events
Get your events into Jambo. You have two options:
- Bring them over from Eventbrite: paste your Eventbrite organizer page and click Find my events. See the Importing from Eventbrite guide.
- Create an event from scratch: build an event yourself in the Dash. See the Creating an event guide.
Either way, your events start as drafts, so nobody can see them until you publish.
Done when: your organization has at least one event, draft or live. The row shows how many you've added.
3. Set up payouts
Before you can sell tickets, we need to verify your business. Click Set up payouts to start. If you've started but haven't finished, the row says Not finished and the button changes to Finish setup.
You don't need to add a bank account to finish this step. A bank account is only needed when you want to withdraw your money, so it can wait.
Done when: your business is verified and you're able to sell tickets. The row shows Ready to sell.
For more, see the Setting up payouts guide.
Only organization owners can manage payouts, so team members with the Member role don't see this step. Their checklist has three steps instead of four.
4. Publish your events
Publishing puts your events on Jambo, where people can find them and buy tickets. Before you publish, check the ticket types on each event, especially prices and capacity.
Click Review your drafts to go to your events list. Open a draft and click Publish at the top of the event's page. The row shows how many drafts are waiting, then how many events are live.
Done when: at least one of your events is live.
For more, see the Publishing and sharing an event guide.
The progress strip
Until setup is finished, a strip runs across the top of every page in the Dash. It reads Finish setting up Jambo, shows how many steps you've done, names the next step, and has a button that takes you straight to it.
While an Eventbrite import is running or waiting on you, the strip shows the import instead:
- Your import is waiting on you with a Finish import button, when you still need to pick a host for your imported events.
- Importing your events with a View progress button, while your events are being imported.
The strip can't be dismissed. It goes away on its own once every step is done.
What "done" means
When every step is finished, the checklist says You're all set. Your events are live and money can reach you.
At that point the progress strip disappears and Get started drops out of the sidebar. If your organization was already set up when you joined, you won't see the checklist at all.
