Finding events
Jambo helps you find things to do near you, from concerts and comedy to family outings, workouts, and food and drink.
You can browse events in the Jambo app on the Discover tab (the compass icon at the bottom of the screen), or on the website at jambo.app/discover.
Choosing a location
Events are shown for one city at a time. The first time you open Discover, you'll be asked to pick a location.
To change it, tap the location button under the search bar. From there you can:
- Tap My Current Location to use the city you're in right now. Your phone will ask for location permission the first time.
- Search for a city by typing in Search cities...
- Pick one of the Trending cities
The app remembers your location for next time.
If you see No events here :(, there aren't any upcoming events listed in that city yet. Try a nearby city.
Searching
Type what you're in the mood for into the search bar and tap the search button. You don't need exact keywords; describe it the way you'd say it to a friend, like "outdoor adventures" or "plans this weekend".
Jambo matches your search on what events are actually about, not just the words in their titles. If your search mentions a time or a type of event, Jambo may set the matching date or category filter for you.
Filtering
Next to the location button are two more filters:
- Date (the button says Any time until you choose dates): choose Today, This week, or pick a date range on the calendar by tapping a start date and an end date.
- Categories: choose All Upcoming or a category such as Music, Nightlife, Family Friendly, Outdoors, or Sports & Fitness.
If nothing matches, you'll see No events found :(. Try a wider date range or a different category.
Browsing results
When Jambo has hand-picked events for your city, they appear at the top under Featured Events. Below that, All Upcoming Events lists everything else.
Each event card shows the date, the event name, and the host and venue. Small icons in the top corner tell you more at a glance:
- Ticket: you already have tickets for this event
- Star: you've marked yourself as interested
- Lock: the event is private (only shared by direct link)
Cards for events with a few interested people also show how many are interested.
Tap a card to open the event's page.
The event page
An event's page has everything you need to decide whether to go:
- The event name and, if it's different from the venue, who it's Hosted by
- A short summary for a quick overview, followed by the full description
- The date and time, and the venue and address. Tap the venue name to see the venue's page.
- Who's interested. Tap See All to see the full list.
- Activity: updates from the host and photos people have posted. Switch between Host Activity and All Activity.
From here you can get tickets (see the Buying tickets guide), mark yourself as interested, or post a photo once the event has started (see the Following and your feed guide).
Some organizers add a button that takes you to their own website, such as Buy Tickets, Book a Table, RSVP, or More Info. These open outside of Jambo.
Host and venue pages
Tap a host or venue name to see its page. Venue pages show the address (tap it for directions), how far away it is, and a phone number if the venue has added one. Every host page lists its Upcoming Events and recent activity.
Marking yourself as Interested
Tap the star button on an event's page to mark yourself as interested. Tap it again to remove it. When the event isn't selling tickets on Jambo, the button is labeled Interested (or Going on private events). You can't change your interest once the event has ended.
Marking an event as Interested:
- Adds it to Upcoming Events on your profile, so it's easy to find later
- Lets people who follow you see it in their feed
- Adds you to the event's list of interested people
- Lets the organizer send you updates about the event, like reminders or schedule changes
When you get tickets for an event, you're automatically marked as interested.
Your name appears in an event's interested list even if your account is private. If you don't want to be listed, remove your interest.
Sharing an event
To send an event to a friend, tap the ⋮ icon in the top right of the event's page and choose Share, Show QR Code, or Copy Link. The same menu is available on host and venue pages.
If you're a Jambo Promoter, these links can earn you commission. See the Jambo Promoter guide.
Finding events on the website
The website at jambo.app/discover has the same search, location, date, and category filters as the app. Anyone can browse events on the website without signing in.
To mark yourself as interested on the website, click Interested on the event's page. If you aren't signed in, you'll be asked to log in first. The button is highlighted while you're interested; click it again to remove your interest.
