You've created your event, sold tickets, and now it's getting close to show time!

# Managing ticket scanners

To allow your staff to scan tickets for your event, you must first add their Jambo accounts as ticket scanners.

You can add scanners in two places in the Jambo Dash:

- **On a host:** go to the host's page and use the **Ticket scanners** panel. These scanners can scan every event at that host.
- **On a single event:** go to the event's **Ticketing** tab and find the **Scanning** section. These scanners can only scan that event. This section also shows the scanners the event inherits from its host.

The Jambo app is used for scanning tickets from any mobile device. There is no extra hardware required!

## Add a ticket scanner

1. Click **Add scanner**
2. Enter your scanner's Jambo username or their phone number
3. Click **Add**

If you entered a Jambo username, or the phone number of someone who already has an account, they're added right away and show as **On Jambo** in the scanners list.

If you entered a phone number that nobody on Jambo uses yet, you'll be asked to confirm. Jambo will text them a link to install the app, and they'll show as **Waiting for signup**. As soon as they sign up with that phone number, they can scan tickets.

Only invite phone numbers that you have permission to text. If your staff member didn't get the text, choose **Resend invite text** from their actions menu in the scanners list.

### Host scanners and venues

Scanners added on a host can scan any event hosted by that host, *and* any other host's event taking place at that venue.

This allows you to set up your staff once for your host rather than for each event. If the venue is different from the host, they can have their own scanners to help with the traffic.

To give someone access to just one night, add them on that event instead of on the host.

## Remove a ticket scanner

To stop someone from scanning tickets, open the actions menu next to them in the scanners list, choose **Remove**, and confirm.

This immediately revokes their access, unless they've also been added as a scanner somewhere else that covers the event.

# Scanning tickets

Let's get your customers in the door as smoothly as possible!

First, have all of your ticket scanners [download the Jambo app](https://jmbo.app/download) and sign into their account. There is only one Jambo app, and it is used for everything from finding events and buying tickets to scanning them.

On the Jambo app, navigate to the event's page.

Tap the **⋮** icon in the top right, and tap the **Scan Tickets** option.

:::hint{type="info"}
The Scan Tickets option only shows for users that are scanners for the event's host, its venue, or the event itself.
:::

Your phone will now turn into the ticket scanner for the event!

When a customer shows you their ticket, point the camera at it and wait for a vibration.

Once the ticket is scanned, the status and type of the ticket will be shown on your screen.

- **Green (Scanned)** means you've just successfully scanned the ticket for the first time.
- **Orange (Ticket Already Used)** means the ticket is valid but has already been scanned before. It's up to you whether to admit them or not.
- **Red** means the ticket can't be admitted here:
  - **Ticket Not Valid**: the ticket isn't valid.
  - **Wrong Event**: the ticket is for a different event.
  - **Wrong Venue**: you aren't a scanner for this ticket's host or venue.

Customers with several tickets can show a single code for their whole group, as long as the ticket types allow it. Ticket types are groupable by default. When you scan a group code, every ticket in the group and its status is shown on your screen. If they're all green, let the whole group in to speed up entry!

The last scanned ticket stays on your screen until you tap on it or scan the next ticket. Your phone vibrates each time it scans a new code.

# Viewing and managing attendees

In the Jambo Dash, you can view all of your attendees and ticket holders.

1. Go to your event's page in the **Jambo Dash**
2. Click on the **Attendees** tab
3. Click on the **All Tickets** section of the table

You will be able to see how many tickets have been acquired for the event, how much each user paid for their ticket (in case prices changed over time, or they were complimentary), and the status of each ticket.

- **Ready to Scan**: the ticket hasn't been scanned yet.
- **Used**: the ticket has been scanned, and the time it was scanned is shown.
- **Pending Registration**: the ticket was given to a phone number that hasn't signed up for Jambo yet.

### Marking tickets as used

If a customer's ticket has been used externally or you want to prevent them from being able to scan it, you can mark it as used in the Jambo Dash.

1. Click the actions dropdown for that particular ticket
2. Click **Mark as Used** and confirm

The ticket now behaves like it was previously scanned, and will show as already used the next time it's scanned.

### Marking tickets as unused

If a customer's ticket has been scanned already and you want to allow them to scan it again, you can mark it as unused in the Jambo Dash.

1. Click the actions dropdown for that particular ticket
2. Click **Mark as Unused** and confirm

The ticket now behaves like it was never scanned before, and will scan successfully the next time.
