Jambo is free for organizers to set up. Jambo makes money from a service fee on paid tickets, which buyers pay at checkout on top of your ticket price.

# The service fee

The service fee is **7% of the ticket price plus $1.79 per ticket**.

It's added on top of the price you set, so it doesn't come out of your earnings. Buyers see it as **Service Fee** before they confirm their purchase.

For example, for a $20 ticket:

- 7% of $20 is $1.40
- Plus $1.79 per ticket
- Service fee: **$3.19**
- The buyer pays **$23.19**, plus any sales tax

The fee is worked out for the whole order and rounded to the nearest cent.

Free tickets have no service fee. If a buyer gets free tickets in the same order as paid ones, the free tickets don't add the $1.79 per-ticket charge. Only paid tickets count toward it. For example, an order of two $20 tickets and one free ticket has a service fee of $6.38: 7% of $40 is $2.80, plus $1.79 for each of the two paid tickets.

Complimentary tickets and bonus tickets have no service fee either.

The service fee is always paid by the buyer. There's currently no option to absorb it into your ticket price. If you want buyers to pay a set amount in total, lower your ticket price to account for the fee.

# Sales tax

Jambo calculates sales tax for each paid order based on your venue's location, and adds it on top of the ticket price at checkout. Buyers see it as **Sales Tax** before they confirm.

Sales tax is collected by Jambo, so it isn't part of your earnings, and you don't need to collect it yourself.

:::hint{type="warning"}
Your venue needs a full address, including a ZIP code, for tickets to go on sale. Without one, tickets can't be sold because sales tax can't be calculated.

# What you earn

You receive the full ticket price for each ticket sold, minus anything you've chosen to share:

- **Pay splits**: the part of each sale you send to other organizations. See the **Pay splits** guide.
- **Promoter offers**: the commission you pay when a promoter sells a ticket. See the **Promoter offers** guide.

# The money flow summary

When you create or edit a paid ticket type, the bottom of the editor shows a **Money flow** summary for one ticket. It updates as you change the price, splits, or promoter offer, so you can check the numbers before you save.

- **Customer pays**: the ticket price plus the service fee. Sales tax is added on top at checkout, so it shows as "(+ tax)".
- **Service fee**: Jambo's service fee for one ticket.
- **\[Organization] receives**: one line for each pay split, showing how much that organization gets.
- **Promoter (max)**: your promoter offer, if you've set one. This is the most a sale can cost you in commission. You only pay it when a promoter actually sells the ticket.
- **Host nets**: what your organization keeps from each ticket after pay splits and the promoter offer.

If **Host nets** turns red, your splits and promoter offer add up to more than the ticket price. Lower them or raise the price before saving.

For free tickets, the summary just shows **Free ticket**.

# New organizer offer

For the first 60 days after your organization is created, Jambo sends 50% of the service fee from each paid order back to your organization automatically. You'll see it as **Jambo Kickback** on your event's **Overview** tab.

You need to have payouts set up to receive the kickback.

# Refunds and fees

When you refund a ticket, the buyer gets back the ticket price and its sales tax. The service fee isn't refunded. To learn who covers what, see the **Managing attendees and refunds** guide.

# Frequently Asked Questions

:::ExpandableHeading
## Does the service fee change if someone buys several tickets?

No. The fee is 7% of the order's ticket total plus $1.79 for each paid ticket, so each ticket costs the same in fees whether it's bought on its own or with others. Because the fee is rounded to the nearest cent once for the whole order, the total can differ by a cent from adding up single-ticket fees.
:::

:::ExpandableHeading
## Is sales tax charged on the service fee?

No. Sales tax is calculated on the ticket price only.
